Road Name: CHIP CHASE

Eric Chipchase was born in Liverpool, England. He was involved in the rock & roll boom of the 70s & 80s. starting life as a Disk Jockey in all the local Liverpool clubs. Later involved with local bands with his sound system, light show and home made synthesizer. The Cavern Club (Beatles fame) was his local haunt.

A local Liverpool band, NUTZ, opened on the first QUEEN tour. Eric was hired as the front house engineer. From NUTZ to the REAL THING. Eric was the stage Manager, front house engineer, and driver. The REAL THING was a four part harmony black band, club dates up and down the breadth of the UK seven days a week, sometimes three shows a day. The Real Thing also did a tour of Spain, ask Eric about touring in Spain in the dark ages. Then Eric ran into RIKKI FARR, owner of ELECTROSOUND UK. Rikki put Eric to work as stage manager, front house engineer, and driver for the HEAVY METAL KIDS.

From HMK, Rikki Farr hired Eric full time for his audio production company, ELECTROSOUND UK. This is where Eric really cut his teeth in the biz. Eric's first tour for Electrosound  UK was KISS. Eric did tour after tour across Europe. In those days, typical European tours lasted 6 weeks, take a week off and back out again for another six weeks.

1975, TED NUGENT (affectionately called "deaf mutant" by the crew) came to the UK. Eric was his monitor engineer for the European tour. Teddy was so impressed with Eric, he brought him to the US to do the TNT TOUR. Eric fell in love with America.
